I love musicals and dystopian flicks, so The Apple is pretty much my favorite movie ever. But maybe you’ve never caught on to the magic and joy that The Apple can bring to your life. Maybe you’ve never given it a fair chance. Here are ten reasons why you should follow Dandi’s suggestion and take a bite:
1. It’s about the future of 1994! If only 1994 was this exciting and shiny.
2. In 1980, the creators of this movie thought, “You know what will never die? Disco. And music companies are bound to take over the world. Then what will we do?????”
3. In the future, everyone will have an Eastern European accent.
4. In fact, all disbelief can be suspended by repeating to yourself: This is the future. This is what people do in the future.
5. What do people do in the future? Have a daily, state regulated hour devoted to dancing. Of course.
6. How do you defeat an evil music executive dictator (who is supposed to be the devil, I guess)? With hippies, folk music, and the overwhelming power of love. Actually, the ending is kind of terrible. You can just skip that part.
7. So much male camel toe. SO MUCH!
8. Nothing puts Moose Jaw, Canada on the map like The Apple.
9. You won’t see any famous faces, but Nigel Lythgoe choreographed this masterpiece
